It was a revival of the hit TV show from the late seventies throughout the eighties, about the crew and passengers aboard a hugely luxurious cruise ship. The first Love Boat game was released in 2017. What exactly caused this decision? What went wrong, and why? Based on my own experience and other player reviews, why did this turn out to be a risk that wasn’t worth taking? However, since I didn’t get a chance to play both games properly and write proper reviews, I wanted to go a little more in-depth with what happened here. Now, as I have mentioned before, I wasn’t exactly surprised: the games underperformed and probably didn’t earn both GameHouse and CBS enough money to cover the costs of updating, licensing and so on. This decision resulted in both games no longer being available for PC and mobile players: those who purchased and fully downloaded one or both can, however, still play, but for those who use FunPass or the Club subscription unfortunately cannot. Last November, news broke that the Love Boat series was canceled, as broadcasting company CBS decided not to renew their license of intellectual copyright as provided to GameHouse.
